Calling all classroom teachers in the Vandalia-Butler City Schools! The Vandalia-Butler Foundation is now accepting applications for VISIONS and other educational grants for creative learning opportunities for students.

The deadline is Dec. 6, but preference will be given to applications received by Nov. 1. Grant recipients will be notified of awards in February 2025. Apply here.

“We’ve streamlined the process with a simplified online application and encourage all teachers with great ideas for sparking student learning to apply for funds,” said Denise Eder, chair of the education committee for the Vandalia-Butler Foundation.

“Projects funded expand classroom experiences beyond the narrow boundaries of the district’s budget and support learning opportunities that have a lasting impact on thousands of children,” she said.

In the past four years, the Vandalia-Butler Foundation has awarded more than $100,000 for such innovative projects as equipment for an inclusive playground, materials and training for the Project Lead the Way STEM curriculum, technology upgrades in the planetarium, a book vending machine for elementary school students and band percussion instruments, among many other initiatives.

Grants are available through these three funds: VISIONS: An Eye for the Future; ARTS Revitalizing Team; and Mary Ann Wietzel “What’s in It for the Kids.” The Vandalia-Butler Foundation typically awards between $15,000 and $25,000 annually in grants. For details on each fund and the grant application procedure, visit the VISIONS websiteRead about our most recent grants here.

Since 2002, more than $240,000 has been granted or committed to support learning opportunities for students in the district.
