new Vandalia-Butler chairs and trustees

The Vandalia-Butler Foundation has named two new co-chairs, added three trustees and welcomed back two former trustees to its board.

“Our foundation continues to grow because of the people who are willing to invest their time, talent and passion in this community,” said Jean Maychack-Ratliff, co-chair.
Added co-chair Cathy Petersen: “We’re excited to welcome these outstanding leaders to the board and look forward to building on the strong foundation created by those who have served before us as we continue supporting opportunities that make a lasting impact in Vandalia and Butler Township.”

The new co-chairs:

Cathy Petersen, executive vice president of Destination Dayton. She previously served as the foundation’s vice president and continues to be the creative catalyst behind the annual report.

Jean Maychack-Ratliff, president of Capstone Property Solutions. She previously served as the foundation’s president and continues to be a member of the VISIONS education committee.

The new trustees:

Mary Blakesly, retired teacher at Brookville Schools.

Rhonda Rhoades, vice president, secretary and treasurer at R.B. Jergens Contractors, Inc.

Mike Thein, president of Abbey Investment Services/Thein Financial LLC and a Butler Twp. trustee.

The returning trustees:

Jacqie Nawroth, retired CPA and current treasurer of the Vandalia-Butler Chamber of Commerce and The Wright Image Group Inc.

Teri Rizvi, writer/editor with nearly 40 years of experience in various communication roles at the University of Dayton. She chairs the communications committee and is a member of the VISIONS education committee.

Denise Eder and Julie Trick have stepped down as co-chairs after their terms ended. Eder will continue to serve as treasurer and chair the VISIONS education committee. Greg Atherton, whose term also has expired, will remain on the board as a non-voting member. In addition, former trustee Candice Farst has been appointed chair of the grants committee.

Thanks to the generous support of businesses, families and individuals, the Vandalia-Butler Foundation’s family of funds has grown to nearly $9.3 million, a 14.8 percent increase over the previous year, according to last year’s annual report.

The Vandalia-Butler Foundation is a component fund of The Dayton Foundation. Leadership for the Vandalia-Butler Foundation rests in our own community, while fiscal oversight of our funds is maintained by The Dayton Foundation, which serves the Dayton/Miami Valley area. This partnership allows for the Vandalia-Butler community to benefit from local leadership and profit from resources pooled with others for investment growth.
