The Vandalia-Butler Alumni Association is committed to helping special needs students at Butler High School build the skills they need for life beyond the classroom.
That’s why the VBAA donated $1,300 toward a $2,650 VISIONS grant to help purchase adaptive vocational equipment, such as vacuums, cleaning supplies and communication aides, that give students valuable hands-on experience in custodial work and food service. The funding also helps sponsor trips to grocery stores, restaurants and other community venues where students learn independence and practical skills.
“This initiative equips students in the intensive needs unit with transferable vocational skills, fosters confidence in navigating community and workplace scenarios, and supports a smoother transition to post-secondary opportunities,” said Amy DeCamp, VBAA president.
In total, the Vandalia-Butler Foundation awarded a record $36,940 in educational grants in 2026.
For those wishing to contribute to the VISIONS Fund, tax-deductible donations can be mailed to VISIONS Fund, c/o The Dayton Foundation, 1401 S. Main St., Suite 100, Dayton, OH 45409-2600. To make an online donation, visit vandalia-butlerfoundation.org/visions.
